Its been a while since Zwifters have a new world. Zwift launched the brand Makuri Island on 20/05/2021, taking Zwifters on a "Journey to the dreams" in Yumezi.

This world has everything expected of Zwift, the beautiful environment, variety of terrain from road to gravel, the inclusion of Japanese folklore as part of the world. I love the beautiful environment in the latest update which for the first time released a new world which felt more alive with avatars depicted in their daily environment and native animals detailed beautifully throughout the map. There is also the vibrant display of oriental seasons with the cherry blossoms of spring, the lush green summer forest vegetation and yellow leaves of autumn being featured.

I believe Zwift have done their homework into Japanese folklore with the Yokai (Japanese Demon) Festival depicted in the village, sacred tree with the Hitodama (ghost lights) featured in the spirited forest, and the kaiju-like character at the side of the wall. Not only that, the native animals of Japan are also included throughout the entire map.
Well what better way to see all the 8 routes on Makuri Island is by riding on them itself. Here is my recon ride video of all the routes
Chain Chomper (Dist: 13.6 km, Elev: 184 m)
Countryside Tour (Dist: 15.8 km, Elev: 185m)
Flatland Loop (Dist: 13.0 km, Elev: 99m)
Kappa Quest (Dist: 9.1 km, Elev: 139m)
Sea to Tree (Dist: 3.3 km, Elev: 107m)
Spirit Forest (Dist: 8.4 km, Elev: 134m)
Three Village Loop (Dist: 10.6 km, Elev: 92m)
Two Village Loop (Dist: 12.8 km, Elev: 92m)
So I felt Zwift has done a marvellous release this time and looking forward to more adventures in Yumezi. #rideon and where is my onigiri?
