Many indoor cycling athletes are so spoilt for choices nowadays with Zwift, Wahoo RGT, MyWhoosh, Rouvy, BKOOL etc that we virtually don't have enough time in a day to do them all.
However, just under 10 years ago, the idea of riding indoors while facing the wall or watch some VHS/VCD/DVD of some famous race or cycling video was rather untenable and boring in no time. Enter Jon Mayfield, the visionary who would bring us Zwift began writing a 3d program to make indoor training less dull back in 2011. Jon was able to put together a program based on ANT+ protocol to combine the signals from various cycling sensors to interact with his fledgling program called JmX Training Coach. Between 2011 to 2013, Jon continued to update and improve his program with more features and compatibility with other platforms like Android and iOS.
While looking for funding in 2013 to keep his project going, little would he know that caught the attention of Eric Min in 2013 while Jon was raising funds for his application in Kickstarter. Subsequently in 2014, the earliest version of the first truly immersive virtual cycling app in the market emerged as Zwift Beta. Since then the rest is history till today...
