This mod has been the creation of Nestor Matas and many other volunteers to develop the cycling mod. With this addition, we are able to use our stationary bike trainers to connect with the game through bike sensors on ANT+ or Bluetooth protocols to move our avatar in-game and cycle in the world of Los Santos. Steering has become a newer advent with new devices launched into the market to enable the feature, notably Elite Sterzo which is quite a pricey device at around USD120 each. Being a gamer cum serious cycling enthusiast, I am naturally drawn to find out how can I use cost effective solutions to steer my avatar without breaking my piggy bank.
The Droid App in Google Play
Enter DroidJoy app for Android smart phones which turns it into a gamepad for your Windows PC.
What it does is turning your smart phones to behave like a game pad with its accelerometer to mimic steering functions like a steering wheel or in this case turn of your handlebar.

So how effective is this solution? Well you have the steering app in your hand but wait a moment! How are you going to steer your handlebar? Well you can get an inxexpensive steering plate like a Unisky Steering plate I bought from TaoBao for RMB 99 (ex shipping) which as displayed below:

The Smart Phone Mount
Now we needed a mount to hold the smartphone straight and level while turning from the top of the handlebars. I have used a Garmin Bike GPS Mount while the smartphone is encased in a water resistant phone case with a stick on Garmin mounting. This will allow me to place the smartphone right in front of me and stay level while I steer.
The Test
Now that we have both the app and the steering device, let's put them together and test the effectiveness as a credible steering option that is inexpensive and easy to use.
So we go in-game with GTA5 Bike and try out steering with Dockland Route. This is a short demonstration to prove that with accurate sensitivity settings in place, we can really steer my guy pretty decently.
Conclusion, this simple solution for steering with GTA5 Bike are the combination's pricepoint and ease of setup makes it a cost effective tool to have.
